FAQ

Auto Glass Replacement

Do you clean up all of the broken glass?
In most cases, yes. Unfortunately in some vehicles glass becomes trapped inside inaccessible crevices and becomes impossible to remove. Sometimes it finds it’s way out through drain holes engineered by the manufacturer or settles permanently, and others it finds a resting place never to be heard from again. In any case, if we can access the broken glass, we will remove it.
What happens to the stickers on my windshield?
We can transfer state inspection stickers, D.O.D. stickers, HOA’s, etc. providing the glass is not broken so badly that the sticker’s display/adhesive surface is compromised. If you need the sticker please make it known up front and we will at least provide the remnants for easier re-issue.
My rear view mirror fell off. Can you fix that?
Yes. Rear view mirrors fall off on a regular basis during the summer months especially. Do not make the mistake of DIY here. The kits sold in auto parts stores are inferior. Give us a call and we’ll be glad to help.
I have a crack in my windshield, is it safe to drive?
It depends, can you see without distraction? The “critical vision area” is a narrow window that extends above the steering wheel about 12 inches and 24 inches looking left and right. From an inspectors point of view, if it’s a distraction it’s unsafe. The police often issue a defective equipment citation if your driving with an obvious distraction. See Virginia State Police Inspection Details for further information.

As far as the windshield crashing down upon you with a crack, yes your safe. A windshield is composed of 2 layers of glass with a relatively thick layer of vinyl in between. A brick thrown from a few feet away will not penetrate but if any break creates a distraction, no matter how small, give us a call.

What do thieves steal most often?
Stereos used to be among the most commonly stolen items, now it’s the GPS. Thieves are opportunistic in nature so don’t leave anything of value in your car no matter where you live or how safe you think you are.
I’m locked out of my car. Which window should I break?

Call a locksmith. Do not make the mistake of breaking out the smallest window.  A locksmith will get you in for a fraction of the cost of most of today’s windows.

My Defroster doesn’t work. Can you fix it?
We can repair broken grids and reattach tabs that are broken off in many cases.
How often should I replace my wiper blades?
Wiper blades are one of the most neglected components on vehicles today. Many blades are cracked, split, torn, brittle, worn or otherwise in obvious need of replacement. Others may look okay, but do a lousy job of wiping.

Ninety percent of all driving decisions are based on a clear unobstructed view of the road, which means good visibility is absolutely essential — especially during wet weather when vision may be obscured by water, road splash, sleet or snow on the windshield. But good visibility requires wipers that are in good condition. If the wipers are chattering, streaking or otherwise failing to wipe cleanly and consistently, you need new blades — NOW!
